About being Indonesian expat in Malaysia

Last Sunday I went to the electronic shop to buy a TV. I spoke and bargain a bit with the owner until we came to the last price. So, when he was typing the receipt, he was asking me "Are you a Filipina?" and I thought. "Oh... not again!" I replied him, "No, I'm Indonesian." And he looked surprised. "Indonesian? But you speak very good English! I have many customers from Indonesia and they don't speak English!"
I laughed. What a pathetic reality. When you are Indonesian, and you can speak English, people don't really think that you are Indonesian. They always think you are from Philippines. They don't even believe that an Indonesian CAN be an expatriate in ths country! My poor country people... very underestimated.
